Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirms appointment of new AC Milan Academy head
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has confirmed the appointment of Jovan Kirovski as the head of AC Milan‘s Academy, including ‘Milan Futuro’. The Rossoneri’s second team, which will be playing in Serie C this season, appointed Daniele Bonera as the new coach last week.
Ibrahimovic confirmed on Monday that the ex-LA Galaxy director will be responsible for the academy and the second team (aka Milan Futuro) and told the media:
“Kirovski will be responsible for Milan Futuro. He played in many clubs as a professional football player, and he comes from the USA. He worked for LA Galaxy, and he’s a high-level profile for us. The coach will be Daniele Bonera, who has great experience as a footballer and played for Milan for many years. We want our talents to have a chance to play for the first team.”
“The gulf between the senior team and Primavera is too big. At 16 or 17, a Primavera player is physically not ready for the first team. With Milan Futuro, they will have time to grow. Serie C is on a different level, and we are preparing these guys to play with adults. It will be very difficult and we must find balance. It’s a new thing for us, but we are prepared and organised, it’s all under control. We want to prove that we believe in our talents and give them a chance to play for the first team,” he added.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic added that there they are going to maintain a distance between the first team and the three teams. The Primavera (academy/youth side) will be the first step, and those who excel will be able to get to play for the Milan Futuro side.
The final step will be the first team, which they are hoping to make the ultimate aim for all players at AC Milan.
