Wolves still keen on signing Borussia Monchengladbach defender: Report
Premier League club Wolves missed out on signing Bundesliga defender Nico Elvedi from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer. The Old Gold has been linked with the center-back yet again in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Wolves were reported to be interested in signing the player a few days later when the window opened. However, recently there wasn’t much discussion around it as the club’s hierarchy seemed to be too occupied with pre-season travelling and friendly games.
But, recently ‘Birmingham Live’, has inflicted that Wolves’ manager Gary O’Neil is still keen on landing Nico Elvedi as they could make a move for the defender in the coming days. The Old Gold’s interest in the player has heated up since Max Kilman departed the club and joined West Ham earlier in the window.
The reports had it Nico Elvedi could be available for a transfer sum of around £7.5-10 million. Considering a player of his category who has featured in over 300 games in Germany’s top-tier football, a deal in that region would certainly be a bargain for O’Neil’s team.
Last season, Elvedi played 30 games for Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga. He was and is still a very important player for them in terms of their defensive aspect of the game. The Switzerland international’s most recent contract with the Bundesliga club expires in June 2027.
