Wolves pushing to sign free agent Kelechi Iheanacho
Wolverhampton Wanderers are battling fierce rivals West Ham United for Kelechi Iheanacho after the Nigerian left Leicester City as a free agent. The 27-year-old striker has scored 61 goals in 232 appearances during his time with Leicester.
Manager Gary O’Neil is keen to reinforce his attacking options this summer and signing a player like Iheanacho would be a perfect move for the West Midlands outfit. Improving the attacking unit will be a top priority for Wolves before the start of the new campaign.
Iheanacho can operate as a wide forward as well as a centre forward and he will bring fresh competition for players like Matheus Cunha without splurging on a transfer fee.
Iheanacho contributed to five goals last season as Leicester gained promotion to the English top flight. He was signed from Manchester City in 2017 with a whopping fee of £25 million and was named Leicester City’s Player of the Year in the 2022/23 season despite their relegation to the Championship.
