Reports suggest David De Gea is considering a Serie A move
After about a season of hiatus, Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea is reportedly open to the possibility of returning to football. The 33-year-old goalie has not announced anything about his retirement which is not his option shortly. He left Manchester United at the end of the 2022/23 season after a disagreement over a contract extension with the club.
De Gea spent the last whole season without playing professionally and is seen training by himself multiple times. He is also known to develop an esports team with him as one of the main investors.
De Gea leaves Manchester United for a reason
Reports said that De Gea would consider rejoining United if the former football director John Murtough and Ten Hag were no longer in the club. However, one of the two remained at the club and De Gea stayed away from Old Trafford.
Currently, Dailymail wrote that De Gea is considering an offer from Genoa as the Italian side move forward as favourites to sign him. The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper was initially approached by a Greek club PAOK but the negotiation was stalled.
Genoa finished 11th last season and set a new standard for the upcoming season with the idea of adding De Gea to their squad. With De Gea not showing any signs to retire, the negotiation process would be possible if both parties are on the same page about the contract fee.
