PSG’s Manuel Ugarte inching closer to Man United after no longer being in Luis Enrique’s plans: Reports

According to a report (via ‘Peoples Person’), Man United have tabled in a bid of around €45 million for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The Premier League club has been linked with the player in recent times as Erik ten Hag continues to look to bolster his squad options leading into the 2024-25 season.

CaughtOffSide‘, earlier reported that Manuel Ugarte is inching closer to a potential Man United transfer after the PSG manager Luis Enrique reportedly informed the player that he is no longer in his plans for the next season.

The 23-year-old Uruguayan international’s current contract with French club PSG runs till June 2028. He has made four appearances for Uruguay in the Copa America 2024 so far. He only joined PSG in July 2023, after leaving Portuguese club Sporting CP. In the previous Ligue 1 season, he made 25 appearances for PSG. He had three assists to his name in these outings.

Primarily playing as a defensive midfielder, Manuel Ugarte can play as a central midfielder also. The 23-year-old could be a perfect foil for Erik ten Hag at Man United, considering the lack of options for the Red Devils in the midfield area going into the new season, with clouds looming over the future of certain players like Casemiro, and Scott McTominay. It remains to be seen how far United will go to sign him.
