PSG sign João Neves from Benfica: Fabrizio Romano
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on PSG’s pursuit of Portugal international João Neves. The transfer guru has confirmed that Neves is now a PSG player and has completed his move from Benfica.
The Parisians will pay the Liga Portugal club an initial fee of €60 million with €10 million in add-ons. Renato Sanches has returned to his boyhood club Benfica on loan as part of the deal. Romano further reported that Neves will fly to Paris this weekend to have his medical with the Ligue 1 giants.
João Neves, 19, is one of the most sought-after young players in European football at the moment. Despite being linked with a move to Manchester United, Neves has joined PSG, where he’ll join compatriot Vitinha in the middle of the park.
New PSG signing João Neves’ career so far
João Neves made 75 appearances for Benfica’s senior team after coming through the club’s youth academy. He scored four goals and provided three assists for the Liga Portugal club. Neves has already made nine appearances for Portugal’s national team and was in Roberto Martínez’s Euro 2024 squad.
Neves had a contract with Benfica until 2028 with a release clause of €120 million. The Portugal international, however, has been let go of a lesser sum than that in a unique deal structure. He will play alongside Danilo, Vitinha, and Gonçalo Ramos at PSG.
