Watch: Phil Foden scored twice in Manchester City vs West Ham United

Phil Foden has eased the nerves of Manchester City fans with two early goals against West Ham United

The 23-year-old needed just 78 seconds to open the scoring with a stunner from outside the box. He collected the ball from Bernardo Silva, swiftly moved it to his left foot, and curled one into the far post beyond Alphonse Areola.

Watch the goal below:

He needed just 17 minutes to double his tally and make it 2-0 for Manchester City. Rodri and Gvardiol combined well to give the ball to Haaland, who released Dokun on the left wing.

The Belgian, who has been questioned by the fans since his epic performance Bournemouth, made no mistakes and found Foden unmarked inside the box. The Englishman eased the ball into the far post once again with a neat first-touch finish.

Manchester City were 2-1 up at the time of writing after Mohammed Kudus pulled one back for West Ham United with a marvelous overhead kick inside the box.

Phil Foden has a big week at Manchester City

Phil Foden was named the Premier League Player of the Season last week after a stunning season for Manchester City. The Englishman had 15 goals this season before the score against West Ham United on the final day.

He spoke to Manchester City’s official website after collecting the award and said:

“To win this award is an achievement that I am extremely proud of. The Premier League is acknowledged as the greatest league in the world, and it is a pleasure to have been nominated with so many other great players who have all enjoyed special seasons for their clubs.”

Pep Guardiola was also full of praise for Foden earlier this month and stated that the Englishman was bound for success. He backed the 23-year-old to become a club legend and said:

“This club has a long, long history so you can’t forget what happened with the players who played at Maine Road, like everyone knows. I think the club has been built with many, many top quality players. I have the feeling if he continues his career until the end here and continues that level he can be one of the best, that’s for sure. Why don’t we wait until he retires and after we can see, he’s still young.”

Phil Foden has won it all with Manchester City since making his debut with the senior side.
