Official: Riccardo Calafiori Joins Arsenal on Long-Term Deal from Bologna
Italy international Riccardo Calafiori has signed a long-term contract with Arsenal leaving Serie A side Bologna after an outstanding season.
The 22-year-old defender was a standout performer for Bologna and was a key player in their remarkable fifth-place finish in Serie A earning them Champions League qualification for the first time in 60 years.
Calafiori’s consistent and dominant displays in defense also earned him a spot in Italy’s Euro 2024 squad.
Calafiori began his career at Roma spending 12 years progressing through their youth academy and gaining first-team experience. He had a loan spell at Genoa in the 2021/22 season before moving to Swiss club Basel in 2022 where he made 26 league appearances.
His performances caught the attention of Bologna leading to his transfer back to Italy in August 2023.
Now, Calafiori looks set to continue his development and make an impact at his new club bringing his physicality and defensive prowess to the team.
