Dani Olmo Future: Leipzig Sends a Clear Message to Top Clubs

Leipzig Stands Firm on Valuation of Dani Olmo

Dani Olmo who was one of the standout players in Spain’s Euro 2024 victory has now attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Barcelona, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.

However, RB Leipzig have made it clear that they won’t part with the talented midfielder easily.

The Bundesliga club initially set a release clause of €60 million (£50.6m/$65m) for Olmo but that clause has now expired. This means any club interested in signing the Spanish international will have to negotiate directly with Leipzig.

RB Leipzig’s CEO Johann Plenge emphasized the club’s stance stating that they will not sell Olmo for less than his market value.

Plenge told kicker,

“Dani is highly regarded and is our player – and that will still be the case when we start training again after the trip to the USA and nothing happens until then. He played a very strong European Championship, so it was clear that other top clubs were knocking on the door. Transfers are part of the business and are a source of income. But they are also just one of many. One thing is clear: we will not sell any player for less than he is worth.”

Barcelona Leads the Chase

While Manchester City and Bayern Munich have shown interest but Barcelona appears to be the frontrunner for Olmo’s signature.

The Catalan club is the place where Olmo began his youth career at La Masia but now has high regard. However, they are currently assessing other potential signings including Nico Williams before making a move for Olmo.

As clubs vie for Olmo’s talents RB Leipzig remains in a strong position. They are not under pressure to sell and will only consider offers that meet their valuation.

The upcoming weeks will be crucial in determining where the 26-year-old will play next season as top clubs continue to circle around this Euro 2024 star.
