Man Utd stumble on defensive options as latest update on Jarrad Branthwaite surfaces

Manchester United faced a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in their pre-season friendly. But the thing that stood out from the game was United’s striker Rasmus Hojlund and defender Leny Yoro leaving the pitch due to certain injury scares of their own.

With Raphael Varane already exiting the Red Devils and the future of Harry Maguire still uncertain, the injury concern of Leny Yoro could pose a major headache for Erik ten Hag and Co. leading into the new season.

United has been heavily linked with Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt. However, despite Bayern demanding around £35-40 million for the player and the transfer seeming to be feasible at face value, the Red Devils haven’t put forth a bid as of now, reports suggest.

As per ‘Fabrizio Romano’, Everton is set to proceed with the medical of Jake O’Brien on Monday, July 29. The Lyon defender looks set to join the Toffees. This further signals that another chance for United to land Jarrad Branthwaite has opened up.

However, Romano further insisted that the talks between United and Everton are at a halt at this stage, with the Red Devils not willing to meet the Toffees’ valuation of around £70 million for the talented player. But, things could ignite in the coming days if Leny Yoro’s injury scare does turn out to be a serious one or if United does decide to add another center-back option to their squad before the window closes.
