Liverpool prioritising €60m rated RB Leipzig defender to beat competition from Atletico Madrid
Liverpool have been reported to be linked with a move for RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan, as Arne Slot intends to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new season.
Fabrizio Romano claims the Reds are tracking the 24-year-old, who can play as a right-back, as well as his more natural position as centre-half.
“What I can tell you is that people on the board of Liverpool have been tracking Mo Simakan and know him very well,” Romano told Playback.
“They have been following the player and they believe he’s a very talented defender. At the moment there are no concrete negotiations between the agents of Simakan and Liverpool or Liverpool and Leipzig, so that is the situation. But I can confirm he’s one of many centre-backs they have been tracking.”
Atletico Madrid have also been tracking the defender.
