Jamie Carragher takes hilarious dig at Gary Neville during Monday Night Football

The Premier League is back with another season of guaranteed thrill and excitement. The first matchday did not fail to live up to the expectations and has set the path for the rest of the year to follow. Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur closed out the opening round of fixtures and Leicester’s star man, Jamie Vardy was invited for a post-match talk on Monday Night Football hosted by Sky Sports.

The two faces of Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville were once again involved in a memorable moment on the show. The Liverpool icon comically called out his colleague during Jamie Vardy’s interview for having altered his outfit. “He’s the first man in Monday Night Football history to change his attire halfway through the show, what is it with the shacket?”. Fans could not help but release a laugh at Carragher’s comments.

Gary Neville, though, was quick to provide an explanation for his decision to change his outfit. “I had a shacket on and my microphone kept falling out and it was doing my head in, it was a professional decision,”. That, however, was not able to protect the United legend from a brutal amount of trolling from Carragher while also becoming one of the moments of matchday one in the process.

Fans bewildered and frustrated with Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville’s predictions

As usual, the special pundits of Monday Night Football completed their tasks of releasing their predictions for the 2024/25 Premier League season. Unsurprisingly, the forecasts were not devoid of controversies and bold calls. Chelsea fans were particularly frustrated with Carragher’s predictions and did not spare the 46-year-old on social media.

Gary Neville, on the other hand, made a shocking call of choosing Arsenal as the potential champions of the league over the four-time reigning winners, Manchester City. Neville and Carragher excluded Liverpool and Manchester United respectively from their contenders for the Champions League spots. Erling Haaland as the Golden Boot winner was the only point where the two managed to make the same claim.
