Gary Neville Takes on Fresh Role Hours Before Premier League Begins
Gary Neville has secured a fresh role for the new Premier League season, as the action kick starts on Friday night, with his former club Manchester United welcoming Fulham to Old Trafford.
The ex-Manchester United player will take over as a lead co-commentator and pundit for Sky this season, but Neville will also be contributing as a broadcaster for another channel. Being a regular pundit for American channel NBC Sports, the 49-year-old is all set to hold the mic on Friday for the first game, joining the ‘Premier League Live’ show and then making further appearances on Sunday.
Joining forces with his former teammate Tim Howard, having played 52 games together. During the summer Neville was part of ITV’s Euro 2024 coverage and continues to host the Sky Bet Stick To Football podcast which includes guests like Ian Wright, Roy Keane, Jill Scott, and Jamie Carragher.

After winning the Premier League eight times, Gary Neville joined Sky Sports for the 2011/12 season following his retirement from football and becoming one of the most recognized voices. He has been a part of numerous both on air and in the commentary box, however follows a simple thump rule- never call for the sacking of a manager
“It was a rule when I came into Sky, for myself, about 13 years ago – I said I would never ever [call for a manager to be sacked], he said while talking to Stick Sports stating the memories of the manager at Blackburn, Steve Kean whose tough times had a for a longer impact on him.
“It was getting painful in the end where you’re thinking, ‘Actually, he probably wants to be sacked’, but you never say, ‘Sack him, put him out of his misery’.
Some do and feel comfortable with it, but I’ve never said it and I’m quite proud of that.”
