Germany vs Denmark Highlights as Havertz and Musiala seal Euro 2024 quarter-final spot

Germany breezed past Denmark with a 2-0 win as Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala secured Euro 2024 quarter-final berth. Havertz scored a penalty in the 53rd minute, with Musiala securing the win in the 68th minute.

2′ – Strong start from Germany with the majority of their attacks coming from the right

3′ – Schlotterbeck thought he gave Germany the lead, however the goal was ruled due to a foul from Kimmich inside the 18-yard box during the delivery

6′ – SAVE! Kimmich thumps in a strike from 25 yards, forcing the Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel into making a world class save!

11′ – Germany grew into this game at this point. Rudiger’s pass from top of Denmark’s defence reaches Kai Havertz, who timed his run to perfection. He tries for a first-time volley in the far corner, but once again, Schmeichel comes to the rescue for Denmark!

20′ – Denmark just saw 30% of ball possession at this point in the match, however, they were quite organised throughout the 20 minutes played

21′ – Huge chance for Denmark! Andersen lobbed in a wonderful long pass over Germany’s defence, with the ball ending inside the German penalty area from a position 30 yards ahead of Schmeichel’s goal. Eriksen controlled it and took a shot, but Rudiger blocked it for a corner

34′ – At the BVB Stadion Dortmund, rain started pouring like cats and dogs, with the referee telling the two teams to come off the pitch with 10 minutes left to go in the first half. It was a precautionary measure against severe lightning.

35′ – The players came out after a 10-minute break and play is resumed.

38′ – Schmeichel fended off Havertz’s attempt at Denmark’s goal via a strong header.

42′ – First real involvement of Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund in the game, but after doing the hard way, he blasted his shot in the side-netting

45′ – HUGE CHANCE! Christensen won the ball in midfield and found Eriksen who played a first time pass to Delaney. The ball eventually lands to Hojlund, however Neuer came off his line quickly enough to deal with the danger

45′ + 2 – HALF TIME!

48′ – DISALLOWED GOAL: Eriksen’s delivered a free-kick into the penalty area and the Germany defenders panicked, as Vestergaard was able to deflect the ball on the far side of the box, where Andersen was waiting on the exact spot to slot it home! However, VAR ruled it out due to it being an offside in the build-up

52′ – PENALTY TO GERMANY! Kai Havertz stepped up and scored a crucial penalty to hand his team a lead in this match

57′ – YELLOW CARD! Joachim Andersen

59” – Unbelievable chance for Kai Havertz to double Germany’s advantage, but he misses the simplest of finishes

60′ – YELLOW CARD! Joakim Maehle

64′ – Fullkrug came on as a substitute for Ilkay Gundogan whereas Emre Can came on for Robert Andrich

68′ – GOAL! Germany doubled their advantage with Jamal Musiala coming up with a calm and composed finish.

69′ – Andres Skov Olsen was taken off for Yusuf Poulsen, whereas Thomas Delaney was also substituted by Christian Norgaard!

73′ – STAT: The goal Havertz scored was his fourth goal at the Euros – only Jurgen Klinsmann and Mario Gomez have scored more goals for Germany in the competition (both with five goals).

79′ – Denmark managed just two shots in the second half with one of them being on target, however, they have seen much more of the ball compared to the opening period.

80′ – Rasmus Hojlund is substituted for Jonas Wind for Denmark

81′ – Two more Denmark substitutions take place with Jacob Bruun-Larsen coming on for Andreas Christiansen. Alexander Bah is also substituted with Victor Kristiansen taking his place.

83′ – Fullkrug received Wirtz’s pass and had an attempt at goal, forcing Schmeichel into making a great save!

88′ – Leroy Sane is substituted by Waldemar Anton

90′ + 1′ – A third disallowed goal of the game saw Wirtz put the ball in the back of Denmark’s net, however this one was quite a blatant offside!
