Enzo Maresca asks Carney Chukwuemeka to find new club
Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has been on the club’s book since the summer of 2022, when he made his move from Aston Villa. He has been heavily linked with an exit, with Barcelona showing interest in the outcasted Englishman.
The 20-year-old has failed to hit the ground running and has managed only one goal and one assist in only 14 Premier League appearances. Chelsea have reportedly inserted a £40m release clause into his contract, but are now struggling to find potential suitors this summer.
Maresca said: “I think every case is different.
“Carney is a very good player. The problem is, because of some injuries in the past, I think the best for him is to play 30 or 35 games in a row, to show himself that he is fit and how good he is.
“With us, is he going to play 35 games? I’m not sure.”
The Blues might have to accept less than £40 million, as Enzo Maresca hinted that the youngster doesn’t have a future at the club.
