Chelsea hand trial to Ghana talent Fatawu Ganiwu

The 16-year-old midfielder is currently training with the Chelsea U-18 and U-21 squads, after he impressed the coaching staff in his recent performance in a friendly against Sheffield United. He previously held trials with RC Lens and RB Leipzig.

The young midfielder was previously labeled as ‘young Michael Essien’ by youth scout Antonio Mango. Ganiwu is expected to feature in many youth games and assess his potential before making a final decision on his future.

He also played a starring role for the Ghana U-16 team in the UEFA Youth Championship and was instrumental in Black Starlets’ victory over Serbia, Spain and Switzerland.
