Bernardo Silva scores the only goal in Manchester City vs Chelsea as Pep Guardiola’s men advance to the FA Cup final
Manchester City responded well to their Champions League exit earlier this week. It was Manchester City vs Chelsea in the semi final of the FA Cup, and the Citizens made their way to the final after Bernardo Silva’s 84th-minute strike could not be replied to by Pensioners.
This is City’s 13th FA Cup final in history. They have won the competition seven times till date. Bernardo now has scored two in the last two FA Cup games, scoring his first in the quarter final against Newcastle United.
“Yeah, very happy after a very frustrating week for all of us and for me personally,” Bernardo said after the game via the club’s website. “The good thing is in football, if you play for City you play every three days. So after two or three days you have a chance for a bit of revenge and to put things right.”

City can still hope to win a double-winner this season with the FA Cup and the Premier League. Meanwhile for Chelsea, this means another titleless season after also losing the Carabao Cup (reaching the final) and obviously the Premier League.
“Today we tried to do that even though we were very tired,” Bernardo added. “We’re happy with another final and another chance to win a trophy. We’ve done it throughout the years many times. The way this team reacts to disappointments and defeats is always in the best way. Today again the team showed a lot of character.
The Citizens would face the winner between Manchester United and Coventry City in another semi final match. Another All-Manchester Final in two consecutive years is likely to happen as United are favourites to overcome Coventry at Wembley.
Last year, City managed to beat United 2-1 with Ilkay Gundogan scoring both for the sky-blue outfit. The last time City lost the FA Cup final was back in 2013, when they surprisingly went down to Wigan Athletic.
