Barcelona out of the race for Arsenal target Mikel Merino

The 28-year-old midfielder has entered the final year of his contract with Real Sociedad and Arsenal have intensified their pursuit of the Spain international. The Gunners have reportedly met with the player’s representatives over a possible move this summer.

Mohamed Elneny has left the club on a free transfer, whereas Albert Sambi Lokonga secured a loan move this summer. Merino reportedly doesn’t want to extend his deal in San Sebastian, with both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona pushing for a move.

The Spaniard would cost Arsenal in the region of €25m to €30m.
