Arsenal face competition from Barcelona for Spanish duo
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is looking to revamp the Arsenal lineup ahead of the new season and has two Spanish attackers on the radar – Euro 2024 winner Nico Williams and Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino, the Standard reported. However, reports in Spain have claimed that La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are chasing both players too.
“We know there are certain positions that we want to improve and give the squad better resources, especially in terms of numbers where we are very short,” Arteta told reporters in Los Angeles after Arsenal arrived for their US tour.
Arsenal have come close to winning the Premier League in the past two seasons, narrowly losing out to Manchester City both times. The club is determined to challenge for the title again this season, and Arteta is confident that they are on the right path.
