5 Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammates who are surprisingly free agents in 2024
Cristiano Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history, making it a rare privilege to play alongside him. Throughout his career, spanning Portugal, England, Spain, Italy, and now the Middle East, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has had many teammates, some exceptional and others less so.
In this article, we take a look at five such names who are shockingly without a contract and are currently available as free agents.
1. Keylor Navas
Keylor Navas, who played alongside Ronaldo for four seasons at Real Madrid, is often regarded as one of the most underrated goalkeepers in recent history. Now 37 years old, Navas is a free agent after parting ways with Paris Saint-Germain and spending early 2023 on loan at Nottingham Forest. Although there were talks of him joining Monza, the deal ultimately collapsed at the last minute, leaving him without a club.
2. Alex Sandro
After nine years with Juventus, spanning from 2015 to 2024, Sandro’s chapter in Turin has closed this summer. Cristiano Ronaldo joined the team a few years into Sandro’s tenure but was unable to lead the Old Lady to European success. Now 33, Sandro has been training with Portuguese second-division club Portimonense as he searches for a new team.

3. Cedric Soares
Cedric has always openly expressed his admiration for Ronaldo, as the two have played together for Portugal and also won the Euro 2016. They both also rose through the ranks at Sporting CP, though at different times. Cedric is currently a free agent after his departure from Arsenal.
4. Adrien Rabiot
The French international is now a free agent after exploring options with various European clubs but ultimately remaining in Turin to complete his contract. During their time together in Italy, the French midfielder played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo on 70 occasions, having joined the club a year after Ronaldo’s arrival. Rabiot openly acknowledged in 2019 that the opportunity to play with Ronaldo influenced his decision to sign with Juventus.
5. Antonio Adan
Another ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper, Antonio Adan, came up through the club’s youth system and primarily acted as a backup to the first team. As a result, he and Ronaldo were on the field together 12 times. However, Adan did have the opportunity to spend numerous valuable hours training alongside one of the greatest players of all time. Currently, Adan is a free agent after spending four years with Sporting CP.
