Wolves 2:0 Aston Villa Player Ratings: The Wanderers sail past Villa in an easy win
Wolverhampton have the bragging rights after a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at the Molineux. The home side took an early lead in the game but had to wait until the very end to double it.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde did well to beat Emi Martinez at the near post and the poor performance from Aston Villa saw Unai Emery take off as many as four players at half time. The move worked as the away side took control of the game, but Cunha scored in the dying minutes to seal the win. Here are the Wolves vs Aston Villa player ratings.
Wolves Player Ratings vs Aston Villa
Goalkeeper
Jose Sa – 7: Did well when needed and kept the clean sheet to help his side win the match. Hardly troubled today and had to make just two saves.
Defenders
Matt Doherty – 6.5: The defender hardly had to break a sweat today in the whole game. He played the whole match but never looked troubled.
Emmanuel Adbadou – 7: He was brilliant against Watkins and managed to hold his position. He never got drawn out of position despite the best attempts from the Aston Villa forwards.
Toti Gomes – 7: A rock-solid performance at the back from the Wolves star. He was never letting Morgan Rogers out of his sight.
Midfielders
Nelson Semedo – 6: He was up and down the right flank and that gave Aston Villa a lot of space. He was a bit clumsy on the ball as well.
Andre – 7: He sat back and controlled the game when needed. Had a good battle with Youri Tielemans for the ball in the heart of the pitch.
Jean-Ricner Belleharde – 8.5: He was the man of the match today even without the goal. Hardly put a foot wrong and was unfortunate to go off injured in the final minutes.
Rayan Ait Nouri – 7: He was in the right position at the right time, from the start to the very end. Hardly got on the ball, but helped his defenders deal with Rogers well.
Forwards
Pablo Sarabia – 7.5: The cheeky ball through proved to be the difference maker today. He was all over the pitch but never got a lot of the ball.
Matheus Cunha – 7.5: Not his best game today and he suffered big time. Had someone or the other marking him all the time but still managed to wriggle through and get a goal in the final minute of added time.
Goncalo Guedes – 5.5: Arguably the worst Wolves player on the pitch today as he never got anything right – from his positioning to shooting. He was taken off in the 73rd minute.

Tommy Doyle – 6.5
Hee-Chan Hwang – 6

Goalkeeper
Emi Martinez – 6: The goalkeeper made three saves, but should have done better for both the goals he conceded. Sift hands for the first one and then poor positioning led him to concede at the very end again.
Defenders
Andres Garcia – 5.5: He was just not able to do anything today. Was taken off at half time as he was suffering on the pitch.
Ezri Konsa – 6: He was doing well until Cunha made a fool out of him at the very end. The dummy sold him dreams and the Wolves man made him look like a debutant.
Boubacar Kamara – 6.5: There was nothing much he could do after Unai Emery slotted him as the center-back. He still managed to do well and come out as their best defender today.
Lucas Digne – 6: He was taken off at half-time as things were just not working out on the flanks. He could not get into the right positions and his corners were also poor.
Midfielders
Lamare Bogarde – 6.5: He was trying his best to help out Garcia and that saw him drift out of position all the time. The change in position saw Wolves get a lot of space in the middle.
Youri Tielemans – 8: He was trying hsi best today but never got any support from his teammates. He came close to scoring right at the very end before Cunha scored the all-important second goal to seal the win.
Morgan Rogers – 6.5: A game to forget for the Englishman as he was unable to influence the game. Did not get a single shot on goal but was trying his best.
Forwards
John McGinn – 6.5: He was just not able to do anything right today. The early booking saw him lose focus as well.
Jacob Ramsey – 6.5: Hooked off at half-time as Unai Emery was furious with his players today. Never got anything outside the box today and failed to get involved in the game.
Ollie Watkins – 4.5: He was never involved in the game today and it seems like the Arsenal rumors have got into his head. He too was taken off at halftime by Emery.

Amadou Onana – 7.5
Leon Bailey – 6
Donyell Malen – 6.5
Kosta Nedeljković – 6
