Why Lorenz Assignon was sent off against Chelsea?

Coming to the 40th minute of the game, Chelsea was awarded a penalty after Mykhaylo Mudryk as fouled inside the box by Lorenz Assignon. The French defender put his left arm into Murdryk’s neck, making the Ukrainian fall to the ground.

Referee Darren England then gave Assignon the yellow card, which was his second of the day after reviewing the VAR. The decision stood after a nice investigation from VAR and Assignon had to leave the pitch earlier. The decision was a highly controversial one as Mudryk had almost lost the ball. However, considering the pace the Chelsea man has, there was a chance of him getting back to the ball which was prevented by Assignon’s left arm.

Brighton fans would argue that the contact was too soft for Mudryk to go down. To be honest, the decision was a bit harsh but it is not the first time world football has seen those given.

Vincent Kompany was sent off for protesting

A protest came from the sidelines as Burnley manager Vincent Kompany despised the decision. The referee had no choice but to send the former Manchester City defender off but he was reluctant to leave before ultimately obeying the decision.

Cole Palmer converted the awarded penalty in with an ice-cold execution. The 21-year old deceived Burnley’s goalkeeper Arijanet Muric who went to the wrong direction, with a panenka kick.
