Who will take over as Real Madrid captain next season?

After spending two decades of his life at the club Nacho Fernandez took over as Real Madrid captain from Karim Benzema at the start of the 23/24 campaign. However, after a successful stint as captain this season, the Spaniard seems to have decided to leave the club in the summer, according to several reports coming out of Spain. The center-back seems to have informed the Real Madrid management about his decision, raising concern among the fans of Los Blancos over who will be the Real Madrid captain next season.

While several have speculated over who could take over as the next captain, veteran right-back Dani Carvajal has appeared as the biggest candidate to take over as the next Real Madrid captain. The Spanish defender has served the club since his youth academy days and has certainly earned the trust of fans. Lucas Vazquez, Toni Kroos, Thibaut Courtois, Fede Valverde, and Vinicius Junior could serve as Dani’s deputies. 

For the moment, Nacho will continue to captain Los Blancos till the end of the season and will perhaps participate in his last ever El Clasico on the weekend as FC Barcelona take on Real Madrid in La Liga on Sunday.
