Who could Italy face in round of 16 after Group A and Group B results confirmed
Italy will face Croatia in their final Group B fixture of the Euro 2024 tournament. The Azzurri secured a 2-1 win over Albania in their opening game of the summer tournament. But they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Spain in their last game.
They are currently second in the group with three points and would secure their spot in the last 16 if they manage to avoid a defeat against Croatia on Monday night.
However, they will be unable to progress if they sustain a defeat and Albania secures a win over group leaders Spain in Monday’s decisive Group B match.
Who could Italy face in round of 16?
After the conclusion of the matches in Group A, Germany has emerged as the winner of the group whereas Switzerland finished second with a respectable five points. If Italy finishes second after the conclusion of Group B matches in Euro 2024, the Azzurri will be put up against runners-up of Group A Switzerland in the next round of the competition.
But if Albania manages to beat Croatia, Italy will secure the third position in Group B and will have to wait until all the games in other respective groups are completed.
Note: The top two teams in each respective group will automatically qualify for the round of 16, whereas only the four best third-placed teams will follow suit.
