Germany looking to end 28-year wait for European glory on home turf
As a unified nation, Germany won the Euros back in 1996. Since then, they’ve reached the finals just once – in 2008, where Spain got the better of them. Now with the championship is back on their home turf after 36 years, Die Mannschaft will be eager to end the drought and bring the cup home.
However, it won’t be easy, given their drop-off since winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup. In their last three major tournaments, Germany have not progressed beyond the round of 16. It will take a Herculean performance from the side to go all the way, especially with talented sides like France, Portugal, and England as the top favorites right now.
