West Ham Might Surprise Tottenham in Transfer Battle for Ivan Toney

As per a recent report by ‘TEAMtalk’, Premier League club West Ham United has been tipped to beat London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Brentford’s England international striker Ivan Toney. After the reduced interest from other clubs like Chelsea, Man United, and Arsenal – Spurs and West Ham are the ones primarily expected to battle it out for Toney in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Ivan Toney went on to miss the majority of the last Premier League season due to a betting ban. However, the striker was one of the most effective players in front of goal in the 2022-23 top-flight campaign. The 28-year-old netted 20 goals in 33 appearances for the Bees in that particular season.

Recently the Chairman of Ivan Toney’s former club Peterborough United – Darragh MacAnthony, had something to say about Toney’s transfer links with West Ham.

“I think for me, the betting man (in me) would say, knowing what David Sullivan is like at West Ham, he’s always liked Ivan Toney. He’ll (David Sullivan) try and basically get him (Ivan Toney) at a dropped-down bargain offer from Brentford”

Darragh MacAnthony concluded his statement by pointing out that he knows his words might surprise Brentford fans, but he believes Sullivan will go for the Bees striker.

Toney is expected to be available for a price tag of about £40-50 million. It remains to be seen who makes the first move. Whether it’s the Hammers or the Spurs.
