WATCH: Emi Martinez save against Arsenal that could spell the end of Gunners’ title dreams
Arsenal had a huge opportunity to take advantage of Liverpool’s home loss to Crystal Palace. But things went off the script as The Gunners hosted Aston Villa at the Emirates. Instead of winning so they could knock Manchester City off of their perch for a while, The Gunners lost 0-2 to their visitors from Birmingham.
In the first half when the game was still 0-0, Arsenal had a huge chance to take the lead through Leandro Trossard. Receiving a ground cross from Gabriel Jesus, the Belgian midfielder was standing free to an open net and needed just to tap the ball in.

However, Trossard’s attempt to slot the ball in found Emiliano Martinez’ right leg. The 2022 World Cup winner heroically denied a big opportunity and kept the score line levelled until the break.
Aston Villa later took the lead first in the last 10 minutes heading to the injury time. It was Leon Bailey who silenced the home crowd in the 84th minute after receiving an assist from Lucas Digne. Three minutes later, Ollie Watkins sealed the deal for Unai Emery’s team witha perfect counter-attack.
