“I feel really rubbish”: Jurgen Klopp comments on Liverpool’s shocking loss to Crystal Palace
Things have gone from bad to worse for Liverpool within seven days. After suffering a shocking defeat to Atalanta in the Europa League, The Reds would potentially really lose the title, after losing at home to Crystal Palace. Jurgen Klopp was left baffled with the morale his players showed in the game.
Eberechi Eze’s goal in the first half could not be responded to by the Liverpool players throughout the game. It was The Reds’ third loss to Palace under Jurgen Klopp after 2015 and 2017.

After the game, Klopp could not hide his disgust at his players performance during the game.
“I feel really rubbish,” he told Sky Sports. “I am standing here and to talk about this game is really tricky. “The first half was absolutely not good enough. We lost conviction from the last game [against Atalanta]. We concede the goal, which is a horrible goal. A completely free player in the six-yard box, that cannot happen.”
Klopp admitted that his players were switched off and lost composure in anticipating the goal. The former Borussia Dortmund manager refused to play the blame game at the moment, urging that his team should stick together and fix the problem.
“It is not about pointing the finger at that or that or that. The solution is being really together on the pitch. Where we are, we got to by being an absolute machine against the ball and that is what we have to be.”
Liverpool have seen downturns since losing to Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter final. Klopp brought that defeat into the discussion while saying that the situation is not entirely the same.
“I do not think the way that we dealt with the United games particularly helped,” he added. “We lost the game in the FA Cup and it was like a catastrophe because we were that good and lost it anyway. Then, we draw there [in the league], and were really good for a long spell but just drew.
“The problems we had in the United games were completely different to the things we had today. Yes, the goals we concede are too easy. That is probably a general thing. The players, me included, expected a reaction.”
Liverpool sit third on the table with 71 points. The favour is now back on Manchester City to win the league after topping the league with 73 points. Even if Mohamed Salah and co can win the six remaining games, it is still up to City and Arsenal, who could drive the scenario of how the league ends this season.
