Virgil van Dijk open to Saudi Pro League move this summer
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has been linked with a surprise exit amid reported interest from an unnamed Saudi Pro League club. The Dutchman has been one of the best defenders in Europe and has been key to Liverpool’s success in recent years.
The veteran defender has won every major trophy at the club level and has now entered the final 12 months of his contract with Liverpool. The 33-year-old Dutchman has been considered a viable target for the Saudi Pro League clubs, but Liverpool are holding out a fee of €55 million for a move this summer.
But, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) believes the asking price is too steep for a defender considering his age and remaining length of contract.
