Valverde’s Wife Criticises Ancelotti’s Tactics as Real Madrid Faces Challenges
In recent developments, Mina Bonino, wife of Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde, expressed her frustration. This was regarding the position of her husband on the field as she posted her thoughts on X (formerly Twitter). Her reaction followed Madrid’s 1-3 home defeat to Milan in the Champions League, where Valverde was substituted at halftime.
Real Madrid Struggles Continue with Another Champions League Loss
Real Madrid’s crisis deepens with their second Champions League loss, falling 1-3 at home to Milan. Alongside disappointing results, internal conflicts are surfacing within the club. Amid unresolved discussions around the Ballon d’Or, new criticisms have emerged.
Valverde, typically a fixture on the field, was substituted at halftime, prompting Bonino, a former journalist, to vent online. She tweeted, “I have to turn this off because I’m about to go crazy and will be locked up somewhere in prison.”
A fan suggested that Valverde’s substitution was tactical, given that “Modric cannot be taken off.” Bonino responded, “Dude, Fede plays best when he comes out as a holding midfielder. What are you talking about? Ahaha, when will they, f*ck, understand that Fede is not a winger?”
Another user commented that it “was not his night” and that the coach made a “good decision.” Bonino replied, “He plays as a winger. Did you know? For some reason, I didn’t see attackers being blamed for not tracking back. And yet, a fool who seems to be everywhere is scolded,”

Ancelotti Addresses Bonino’s Criticism
At a press conference, Ancelotti was asked about Bonino’s comments. He responded, “It’s hard to express an opinion on what people write on social media. I substituted Valverde because he was not ready at 100% — he had back problems. It seemed that he had recovered because he trained well yesterday. But we noticed that he was not at his best physical level during the game — that’s why I replaced him,”
Meanwhile, Bonino’s posts were later deleted, and she claimed her account was hacked.
