Tyrell Malacia Injury: When will the Netherland-born defender return to Man United?
Netherland-born left-back Tyrell Malacia sustained a heartbreaking knee injury back last summer and hasn’t played for Man United all season long. Speaking to the media, Erik ten Hag provided everyone with an update on his Malacia’s injury.
Tyrell Malacia injury: When will the left back return for Man United?
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have been forced to play the entire season without the services of Tyrell Malacia. The Dutch defender had to undergo knee surgery after his injury on July 18, last summer. Fortunately for Man United and Malacia, the surgery was successful. The Red Devils were hopeful of recovering Tyrell Malacia by March as the business end of the season approached.
However, now it seems that Tyrell Malacia may not feature for Man United this season at all due to his injury. Speaking to the media ahead of United’s game against Everton, Erik ten Hag offered an injury update on Tyrell Malacia. The gaffer said, “I think it’s going to be difficult for him this season to be available”. Elaborating further, ten Hag said, “He’s back on the pitch, but not in the team and the process had some setbacks for him. He’s still going forward really slowly and the season is coming to an end”.
The injury update on Tyrell Malacia will further demotivate Man United which lost Luke Shaw to an injury recently. With no experienced left-back to push the side’s attack from the left, United’s system will also suffer in the short-term. The aspirations of Manchester United of finishing in a top-four spot will also be further dented. Currently, the Red Devils sit in 6th place in the league, a whopping 11 points behind 4th-placed Aston Villa. However, the setback in Tyrell Malacia’s recovery from injury has also raised questions regarding the competency of Man United’s medical staff amid an alarmingly long injury list.
Tyrell Malacia injury setback: Will the Dutch defender return for Euro 2024?
The setback in Tyrell Malacia’s recovery from injury has raised concerns over his participation for the Netherlands in the Euros 2024. The Euros 2024 will be held in Germany and will start in June. However, there seems to be no reason to worry and if the timeline set for his return holds, he will feature for the Dutch in June. Although he is training in isolation on the pitch, he will join team training sessions by the end of April.
