Tottenham vs Burnley Player Ratings as Van de Ven’s late winner ends four-game losing run for Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur vs Burnley Overview
Tottenham Hotspur left it late against Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday to win their first Premier League match in five games. Micky van de Ven struck the winner for Spurs in the 82nd minute, relegating the Clarets from the top flight, while also keeping their Champions League hopes alive.
Against all the odds, 19th-placed Burnley took the lead in the game as Jacob Bruun Larsen scored for the visitors in the 25th minute. Just seven minutes later, Pedro Porro equalized for Spurs, as the hosts produced a swift response. Their comeback was complete with only eight minutes of normal time remaining when Van de Ven made it 2-1 for Tottenham.
After four consecutive losses, Ange Postecoglu’s side finally won a league game again and closed the gap on fourth-placed Aston Villa to just four points with only two games remaining in their season. Burnley, though, were officially relegated back into the Championship, as they can no longer mathematically climb back into safety.
