Tottenham front runner for Lille forward as Atletico Madrid drop out of the race

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur has been severely linked with a potential transfer move for Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David in the ongoing 2024 summer transfer window. Various reports in the English media have shelved out that Spurs and Ange Postecoglou hold the Canadian international high on their list of potential suitors to play the central attacking role in the upcoming season.

Since Jonathan David is in the last year of his contract at Lille, the French club would want to cash in on him at this stage in time considering his performances in recent times. The 24-year-old netted 26 goals and registered nine assists across all competitions for Lille last season.

According to ‘TEAMtalk‘ and several other published reports, Lille could well demand a fee of around  £25-30 million for David if he is to depart the club this window. The above-mentioned transfer sum may not come as any major issue for Tottenham if they decide to go all in for the Canadian striker.

Also, earlier reports had it that La Liga side Atletico Madrid was also heavily interested in Jonathan David. But since they have signed Julian Alvarez from Man City recently, they are reportedly no longer in the race for David as things stand. This turn of events lands the Spurs as the front-runner for the Lille center-forward.

However, now a situation could arise where Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou could be spilled for choice between Bournemouth’s Dominic Solankee and Lille’s Jonathan David.
