Tottenham concerned about potential hijack from Arsenal for Eberechi Eze
Tottenham Hotspur fears their arch-rivals Arsenal could beat them to the signing of Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze this summer. The 26-year-old England international has been on the radar of several English clubs including Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United.
Spurs are keen on acquiring the services of the talented Englishman next summer who has been on their wishlist for over a year now. The player reportedly had a gentleman’s agreement with the North London giants but has put the move on hold and will reassess his options before making a final move.
But they still have retained an interest in the England international and are willing to meet the 26-year-old’s £68m release clause. Eze’s consistent performance for the Eagles earned him a place in the England squad for Euro 2024.
He was expected to make a big-money move in the recently concluded summer transfer window but he ended up staying at Selhurst Park beyond the deadline day. Spurs has been chasing his signature for a while now but were informed by the player’s representatives that Arsenal has now entered the race for his services.
Eberechi Eze’s performances so far for Crystal Palace
The talented attacker has gone from strength to strength since joining the Eagles from QPR in the 2020 summer window. His consistent performances in the Premier League earned him a spot in the Three Lions squad. Last season, Eze was involved in 17 goal contributions in 31 appearances for the club.
He is currently undergoing his fifth season with Crystal Palace and still has three years left on his contract.
