Top 5 Best Signings of the 2023/24 Premier League season
Good signings are crucial for a club to compete at the highest level, especially in a top competition like the Premier League. During the two transfer windows, every club are taking their time to get the best player possible in order to strengthen their squad to achieve their respective goals.
With the season coming to an end, the bigger picture started to show about which particular transfer was on the money. Here are the Premier League Best Signings 2023.
Ross Barkley
Once one of England’s most prospective players, Barkley’s career saw a downturn in his second season with Chelsea in 2020 and even being left without a club in 2022. The French side OGC Nice came to save him just to sell him back to England to join Luton Town.
Barkley started to find his pace again with the newly-promoted Premier League side this season. He has scored five goals in 31 league appearances and is working hard to bring Luton escape the relegation zone.
Cole Palmer
No doubt he is Chelsea’s most outstanding player this season. Not only on the technicality, he is also strong mentally and it shows on the pitch. The Blues have been criticized throughout the season for their inconsistency and performance under the fans expectation.
But Palmer showed up to set himself apart from the rest of the Chelsea squad, scoring 20 goals in 30 games. Chelsea may not be competing at the highest level with other clubs but Palmer is going head-to-head with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland to be the most scoring player this season.
Pedro Porro
One of the most used players in the Fantasy Premier League and it has reasons. Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglo has turned Porro into an effective inverted full-back. Something that was not seen when Antonio Conte was in charge.
Poro came to London as a loanee from the Portuguese side Sporting CP in the winter of 2023. Six months later, the club decided to sign him permanently with £35 million. Spurs are fighting for a Europa League spot with Porro appearing in 31 games and scoring once in the process.
Jeremy Doku
It is rare to see Manchester City not spend the money wisely. Even though it is almost a big-cash guarantee, the transfer works somehow. That is the case with Jeremy Doku who turned into one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League.
When he arrived in the Premier League with a £52 million transfer fee from Stade Rennais last summer, nobody laid an eye on him. But that is when the magic works, Doku played so well that he even became a ‘threat’ for Jack Grealish who plays in the same position.
Declan Rice
Arsenal got a right replacement for Granit Xhaka who left for Bayer Leverkusen last summer. They even got a massive criticism when signing Rice for more than £100 million which was considered too much for a young player in West Ham.
However, the England midfielder proved all the doubters wrong, playing a pivotal role in the midfield area, alongside the captain Martin Odegaard in the title race. Rice appeared in every Arsenal league game this season and scored in six of them.
