Pachuca to Host Columbus Crew in CONCACAF Champions Cup Final on June 1
Regional football chiefs agreed on Thursday that Mexican team Pachuca will play Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew in a one-leg CONCACAF Champions Cup final on June 1.
The Reason for Change in Date of CONCACAF Final
The final, which was initially slated for June 2, has been moved up by one day, according to a statement from CONCACAF, in order to avoid conflicting with Mexico’s national elections.
Columbus completed a 5-2 aggregate triumph on Wednesday by defeating Mexican powerhouse Monterrey 3-1 on the road. This earned them a spot in the championship game.
After winning their semi-final match against Club America, Pachuca moved on to the final on Tuesday.
This year’s Champions Cup final will not only decide the top club prize in the region but also the CONCACAF squad that will advance to the expanded FIFA Club World Cup the following year.

Pachuca eyes a sixth CONCACAF crown, drawing on their rich history in the tournament with previous victories in 2002, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2017.
For the Crew, this marks a historic moment as they make their maiden appearance in the final, aspiring to join the ranks of MLS predecessors D.C. United (1998), Los Angeles Galaxy (2000), and Seattle Sounders (2022) as champions of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Pachuca’s home advantage in the final was earned through their superior points tally accumulated throughout the round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals.
As anticipation builds for the clash between these two formidable sides, football enthusiasts eagerly await what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
