Top 3 players key for Newcastle United’s ambitions in 2024/25

Newcastle are a difficult one to predict. They are a good team but perhaps on the same level as an Aston Villa. So idealistically, a Champions League spot would be their target but they wouldn’t mind settling for an Europa League place either. The squad is promising but there are enough holes to plug at the same time. Today at SportsDunia, we bring you 3 players from the club who would be key to the club’s aspirations this season.

#3 Fabian Schar

Will Fabian Schar still remain a starter by the end of this year? While that is a complicated question to answer, right now he’s the cornerstone of the team. With Sven Botman and Jamal Lascelles out injured, the team are heavily dependent on him, at least during the initial months of the season.

The Swiss international is an aggresive defender who wears his heart on his sleeve. He is very brave both in terms of defending and carrying the ball out of the back. He also has quite the penchant for goalscoring from headers or long shots.

#2 Bruno Guimaraes

Bruno Guimaraes is as good as any box to box midfielder plying their trade in the Premier League. He is one of the very few players in the league who could walk into Arsenal and Manchester City and improve their XIs. Bruno is extremely complete, on the ball he is top class and his work rate off the ball is up there with the best too.

The Brazilian’s grit, tenacity and leadership is what makes him the first name on the team sheet for Newcastle. He is also no slouch in the attacking department, contributing to 15 goals last season. Bruno Guimaraes is a Champions League calibre player and to go back to that level he must take Newcastle there with him.

#1 Alexander Isak

Before saying anything about him, it is important to mention that Alexander Isak is an extremely fun footballer to watch. He is a tall number #9, who is extremely silky in the way he dribbles and is just very intelligent in the way he plays. He showed a lot of promise at Real Sociedad and now he is developing into that player.

One criticism that was levied at home was that he is not clinical enough in front of goal. Those talks have died down, with the Swede scoring 21 league goals last season. He is now widely recognised as a top 3 striker in the Premier League, who can only get better.
