Roma vs Feyenoord Preview, Prediction, Odds and Betting Tips
Roma will clash against Feyenoord yet again, but this time at the Stadio Olimpico for the second leg of their Europa League tie on Thursday.
There is no difference between the two sides as the score stands at 1-1 from the match at De Kuip last week.
Roma vs Feyenoord Preview
Being the more dominant side in the first leg, Daniele De Rossi’s men were more than happy to take home a draw, even though Lukaku only equalized in the second half.
This strike from Lukaku could hold much significance in the tie, as it laid the platform for an exceptional Europa League run, finding the back of the net 17 times in 18 appearances.
The majority of results and performances since Mourinho’s departure have been on the positive side for De Rossi. The former midfielder began his journey with a hat trick of wins before Serie A leaders Inter Milan put an end to the run with a 4-2 victory.
That being the only defeat in the De Rossi era has helped gain more ground with a positive first-leg draw followed by a convincing 3-0 win over Frosinone on the weekend.
Roma has risen in the ranks, comfortably sitting at sixth, sending a wake-up call to all the big guns of Italy. However, they still trail by four points to the top four.
Roma’s recent result over Feyenoord will give them huge confidence ahead of the clash this Friday, as their fightback in last season’s quarter-final at De Kuip, despite trailing in the first leg, eventually led them to the final, which will stay strong in the minds of the players.
The Italian side’s triumph in the inaugural 2022 UEFA Conference League was also against Feyenoord, as they won their first European silverware after 61 years.
Arne Slot’s men will have an uphill battle to make history at the Olimpico to extend their run in Europe. Notably, the only time they failed to score in their 29 outings was here in the Italian capital against Lazio back in November.
Another unfortunate stat for the Feyenoord faithful is that they have failed to win any of their last nine outings in Europe, including the defeat here last season.
A late winner for the Dutch side against 10-men RKC Waalwijk last weekend increased their winning run to 11 games, though the vast majority of games in 2024 were at home.
This will be just their third travel of the year, while they won two of these against AZ Alkmaar and Vitesse.
Regardless of what happens in this competition, Champions League football awaits as they are second in Eredivisie, 10 points behind PSV and holding onto an 8-point buffer over Twente in third.

Team News & Predicted Lineups
Roma
A first-leg yellow card for Edoardo Bove will keep him out with suspension for Roma, giving way for Bryan Cristante to replace him. Rui Patricio seems to have lost his place to Mile Svilar, as the Serbian started in the league win over Frosinone at the weekend. Paulo Dybala and Lorenzo Pellegrini were both rested in that win for the second leg, meaning Tommaso Baldanzi may be benched after his first Roma start. Chris Smalling returned for a late cameo after being sidelined due to injury, but English compatriot Tammy Abraham remains sidelined.
Possible starting lineup for Roma:
Svilar; Karsdorp, Diego Llorente, Mancini, Spinazzola; Cristante, Paredes, Pellegrini; Dybala, Lukaku, Zalewski
Feyenoord
They welcome back both Quinten Timber and Lutsharel Geertruida against Waalwijk after they missed the first leg last week. The in-form Santiago Gimenez returned to the starting XI after only being benched last Thursday, but Alireza Jahanbakhsh is still out. The injury list continues with Gernot Trauner and goalkeeper Justin Bijlow, but Timon Wellenreuther is still between the sticks.
Possible starting lineup for Feyenoord:
Wellenreuther; Geertruida, Beelen, Hancko, Hartman; Stengs, Zerrouki, Wieffer; Minteh, Gimenez, Igor Paixao
