Rodri suffered a shock injury blow in Spain vs England Euro 2024 final
Manchester City midfielder Rodri was taken off right at the end of the first half of the Euro 2024 final between Spain and England. After the first-half whistle, Rodri was seen hobbling down the tunnel and was replaced by Martin Zubimendi in the second half.
The Spaniard apparently suffered a hamstring injury when he collided with Aymeric Laporte while blocking a shot from Harry Kane. The midfield general was seen in tears after he picked up the injury.
Rodri was named Best Player of the Euro 2024 tournament
Manchester City midfielder Rodri was one of the top performers for Spain in Germany this summer, featuring in six of their seven games in Euro 2024. His only goal in the tournament came against Georgia in the last 16.
He has developed into an influential player for La Roja as he made 56 appearances for the senior team and scored four goals. He formed an incredible partnership with Fabian Ruiz in the middle of the park.
Rodri has experienced only one defeat in his last 80 games in all competitions for club and country and will now add the Euros to his impressive collection of trophies.
Rodri said: “This is probably the best day of my career. We are European champions, as difficult as that is. We have become Europe’s most successful national team.
“We have made history, beating four former world champions in the process. We got through the toughest draw and it speaks for the mentality of the team.”
