Blow for Man United: Star Striker Rasmus Højlund Sidelined with Muscle Injury
Just as Manchester United seemed to be finding their footing in the Premier League, the Red Devils were dealt a big blow today. United announced in a statement ahead of their game against Fulham that Ramus Højlund will miss the game at home. The news of his muscle injury comes at an unfortunate time as Ramus Højlund was on a scoring spree for the Red Devils. The Danish striker had netted eight times for Man United in the last seven games.
In fact, the striker rescued his club last weekend from facing humiliation against 18th-placed Luton Town. Ramus scored two crucial goals in the 2-1 victory for United away from home. Now, Man United will be without the services of the striker for the upcoming game against Fulham. According to the club, the ex-Atalanta player picked up a muscle injury and is also facing fatigue. Luckily, Manchester United fans need not fret as the club has provided a timeline for Rasmus Højlund’s return from injury.
When will the Danish striker Rasmus Højlund return for Man United?
After Man United confirmed the injury to striker Rasmus Højlund, Erik ten Hag offered further explanation concerning the striker’s injury. In a press conference ahead of the club’s match against Fulham, ten Hag said, “It is a small injury. That is what happens and the risk [when you are] playing at high intensity.” The Dutch coach offered a possible return date for Rasmus saying, “As I say it is not a big injury, but he has to wait for one, two, three weeks.”
Man United will closely monitor the evolution of Højlund. If the timeline offered by the club and ten Hag holds, then the Danish striker will miss some important games. Man United is set to play Fulham this weekend before traveling to Nottingham for their 5th-round FA Cup tie. Manchester United are also set to face Manchester City in the Manchester Derby next weekend. Ramus Højlund has offered United important goals this season and will rue his absence due to injury. For the moment, Ramus is likely to return before Manchester United’s tie against Brentford in the Premier League at home.
