Cubarsi played the whole 90 minutes picking up a yellow card after fouling Warren Zaire-Emery in the second half. He broke the record that previously belonged to CSKA Moscowโs Georgiy Shchennikov when he was 18 years old, playing against Inter Milan in 2010.
What a moment as Pau Cubarsi breaks record of Carles Puyol as well
Internally, Cubarsi also broke the record that used to belong to Carles Puyol as the clubโs youngest defender to win in the last eight rounds. The 2010 World Cup winner was 21 years and 358 days old when he played against Chelsea back in 2000.
Gerard Pique is also on the list with being only 22 years and 56 days when playing against Bayern Munich in 2009, Sergi Barjuan who was 23 years and 63 days old in the game against PSG in 1995 and Marc Bartra (23 years and 84 days) playing against Atletico Madrid in 2014.
Barcelonaโs last meeting with PSG prior to this match was in the 2020/21 season when they lost 5-2 on aggregate in the Round of 16. The victory in Paris put Blaugrana in a favour position to secure the semifinal spot for the first time after five years.
