“Only one club was missing” – Mesut Ozil highlights the only regret of his career
Mesut Ozil was known for his agility and amazing sense of passing in the midfield area when playing for club and country during his career. Lately, the Turkish descendant expressed one big regret of his career which left a hole in his heart; not playing in Italy for Juventus.
On his latest X (formerly known as Twitter) post, Ozil mentioned every club he played for in the past from Schalke 04 to Fenerbache. “Proud of my career and all the amazing clubs I’ve had the privilege to play for – only one club that was missing: My Italian love @juventusfc Juve, storia di un grande amore #M10 #ForzaJuve.”

The dream that never came true for Mesut Ozil
Ozil never fulfilled his dream and desire of playing for Juventus despite multiple rumours saying so. He has neither played against them. During his career, there have been only two Italian teams that he has played against, Napoli and Inter.
In December 2020, it was reported that Juve rejected an offer to sign Ozil when he was still an Arsenal player. Before retiring, the Gelsenkirchen-born moved to another Turkiye side Basaksehir, with no transfer fee for both clubs.
That one goal against Ghana
The 2014 World Cup winner gained recognition from the world when appearing in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. His goal against Ghana was one of the most remembered in the tournament, making him one of the most anticipated players in the follwoing summer.
His attention-stealing performance in the World Cup led him to Santiago Bernabeu as Real Madrid signed him for €18 million from Werder Bremen. With the Spanish capital side, Ozil scored 27 goals in 159 appearances, winning one LaLiga title and one Copa del Rey.
