Nani believes that Alejandro Garnacho is lot like him and not Cristiano Ronaldo

After a much improved 2022/23 season, a lot was expected from Manchester United this term especially after the Red Devils spent heavily during the summer. However, things haven’t gone according to plan as the Old Trafford side have struggled to find consistency. That combined with Rasmus Hojlund still adjusting to English football has seen the club struggle.

But amidst the struggle, the club’s young stars have thrived with Kobie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho paving the way for the future. That especially includes Garnacho as he is the club’s joint second highest goal-scorer with 9 goals across all competitions, tied with Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay. It has heaped a lot of praise on the young Argentine as many believe there’s more to come.

It has also seen Garnacho compared to Cristiano Ronaldo when he first arrived at Manchester United and many fans believe that the young starlet could lead the club to glory. However, Nani refutes that claim and instead believes that the 19-year-old is more like him than Ronaldo. The Portuguese star, spent eight years at Old Trafford, added that Garnacho is an exciting youngster and someone that United can nurture.

“When I watch Garnacho, he reminds me of myself. He even has the No.17 shirt – the same number I wore. When he changed to that number this season, he started scoring some goals, so that’s been good for him,” Nani said, reported the Mirror.

“He’s not afraid of taking defenders on, making the runs, making assists. He’s a very good player, he has so much time to improve his game and get stronger. He will be fantastic in the future. His game is more similar to mine when I was at United than Cristiano’s. He’s a very exciting player and I hope in the future he can win titles with the club and help it to be successful again.

“We’re not used to being in this position in the table. We were always a team used to competing for first position. The last few years the team hasn’t been able to do that, but we know it’s a process and you have to readjust the team, the club,” he added.
