Neymar Injury: Al Hilal manager Jorge Jesus gives worrying update on the Brazilian
Neymar Injury: Brazilian is set to miss the start of 2024-25 season
Al Hilal manager Jorge Jesus has revealed that Neymar will miss the start of their 2024-25 season in the Saudi Pro League. The Brazilian underwent a surgery for an ACL injury he sustained while on international duty with the Selecao in October 2023.
Following his transfer from PSG last summer, Neymar has played only five games in all competitions for the Blue Waves, including three in the Saudi Pro League. He was already recovering from a muscular problem when he arrived, and after playing a few games, succumbed to a season-ending ACL injury.
The former Barcelona star is set to be sidelined from the upcoming Copa America 2024 for Brazil and according to his Al Hilal manager, Jorge Jesus, will also miss the first few fixtures for them next season. When asked about any update on Neymar’s condition, he said:
“The [recovery] time they give Neymar, in an injury like this, is normally between 10 and 11 months. Neymar will not be operational at the start of next season. We think that in September, October, he may be in a position to compete.”
Since leaving Barcelona, Neymar’s fitness record has been abysmal, with the Brazilian ace missing over 100 games for the Parisians over six years. Now at Al Hilal, injury has reared its ugly head over him once again.
Al Hilal romp to Saudi Pro League title
Despite missing Neymar for much of their campaign, Al Hilal cantered to the Saudi Pro League title this season with three games to spare. The Blue Waves also managed to pull it off while being unbeaten and stand only two games away from a historic ‘invincible’ season. During their title charge, Jorge Jesus’ side also set a record for 25 consecutive wins in the league, which includes some really big ones such as the 9-0 win over Al Hazem and 7-0 over Al Abha.
