Newcastle United has shown interest in Roma forward Tammy Abraham
The Magpies are keeping tabs on England international Tammy Abraham who has been linked with a move away from Roma since the January transfer window. The 26-year-old forward has been a mainstay with the Italian giants since his move from Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2021.
Newcastle United and West Ham are linked with a move for ex-Blues striker Tammy Abraham
The England international has already proven himself in the Premier League with his spells with Chelsea and Aston Villa in the past and a return to his home country would be an enticing move for the 26-year-old.
Abraham has been out with an ACL injury for eight months since the start of the campaign and returned to action last month. Newcastle United are in the market for potential forwards in the coming summer window and Eddie Howe have shortlisted Tammy as one of his top priorities next season.
He’s not anymore Roma’s first-choice striker as Romelu Lukaku has displaced the Englishman in that role and it would make sense for the out-of-favour to seek a new challenge elsewhere in the summer.
Roma are also ready to sanction the strikers’s departure for a cut price and could accept an offer in the region of £25 million.
Journalist Dean Jones said: “Tammy Abraham is back in action and back in the goals. It would not surprise me to see him linked with a Premier League club or two soon.
“He is only 26, so I think there are European-chasing clubs that could consider him, as well as the tier below. I don’t see him being an answer to the striker problem at Manchester United or Chelsea, but Newcastle and West Ham are clubs where I could see there being some interest.”
It would make sense for the England international to join a club where he will get regular game time and Newcastle could be an ideal destination for the Chelsea academy product.
