Mikel Arteta confirms shocking Takehiro Tomiyasu injury
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that defender Takehiro Tomiyasu will be sidelined for several weeks as he missed the majority of the pre-season with an apparent knee injury. Arteta reinstated that the defender will not be in action in Arsenal’s opening game against Wolves.
“I think it will take weeks on that one, unfortunately, and poor Tomi because of everything that he does,” Arteta said after the Lyon match.
“But he’s going to have to be patient and work through it because I think it’s going to take a few weeks.”
The Japanese international missed two months of action due to a calf injury and was also out for the final few months of then 2023/24 after undergoing knee surgery.
