Christopher Nkunku injury update: Mauricio Pochettino reveals positive news for Chelsea supporters
After four impressive seasons at RB Leipzig, where he contributed to over 120 goals for the German side, Chelsea took the plunge and signed Christopher Nkunku. A lot was expected from the Frenchman but a pre-season injury meant that he missed a large chunk of the season. While he did make a comeback in late December, another injury in February meant another layoff.
That hasn’t helped Chelsea but the Blues have been in great form with an unbeaten run that goes back to early February in the league. However, their injury situation hasn’t helped with their case as Pochettino’s side has the joint third most injuries at the time of writing. That includes Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Reece James and several other stars but things could be changing.
Christopher Nkunku Injury Update: “They assess him day by day”
In his pre-match press conference ahead of their FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City, Mauricio Pochettino has issued an update over several players. The Blues face the Cityzens for the third time this season, and have already played Pep Guardiola’s side twice, both ending in draws. It does have many fans hopeful especially after Pochettino issued an update on Christopher Nkunku.
The Argentine revealed that the forward is being assessed on a daily basis and could be fit in time for the clash against City. But Pochettino asserted that right now, the club only hope that he could be involved, with no guarantees available.
“They assess him day by day and in the last few days he has the possibility to be involved in some parts of the training session. We now need to see the reaction of his body and see how he evolves. We hope he can be involved soon,” Pochettino said, reported Football London.
