Aston Villa unlikely to off-load Matty Cash in the summer transfer window

Aston Villa’s right-back Matty Cash has been heavily linked with a move to Seria A giants AC Milan. However, as per a recent report from ‘BirminghamLive’, and as laid down by ‘Calcio Mercato’, the Midlands-based club is now in a comfortable position as per the league’s PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) after doing a couple of early business in the window.

The Premier League club sold midfielder Douglas Luiz to Italian Club Juventus for a hefty sum of about  £42.3 million. Unai Emery’s side also managed a decent transfer fee ranging to £9 million for Tim Irorgbunam, after he moved to Everton. This lands the club in a solid position to ask their valuation of about £29-34 million for Matty Cash amidst no major rush to sell him.

However, this price tag set by Villa is likely to force AC Milan to look for other alternatives. Now certain reports do admit that AC Milan is looking towards Villa’s league rivals Tottenham’s Emerson Royal to fill that right-back option void.

Matty Cash’s current Aston Villa contract runs till June 2027. Cash made 29 appearances for Villa in the 2023-2024 Premier League season. Apart from his defensive contributions, his attacking game also improved under Unai Emery. He had four goal contributions (two goals and two assists) to his name in the previous Premier League season.
