Marcos Alonso desperate to join Manchester United this summer

Former Chelsea and Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso has been linked with a move to Manchester United as a free transfer this summer. The Spaniard is currently without a club and was also linked with the Red Devils last summer too, but a transfer failed to materialise.

The 33-year-old left-back spent three months on the sidelines with a back injury and made only eight appearances for Barcelona under former manager Xavi. The versatile left-back’s two-year deal with Barcelona expired at the end of last season.

But, it’s highly unlikely that United would go for a defender who is well past his prime.
