Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag provides update on Leny Yoro injury
The Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag shared his views on new signing Leny Yoro, who suffered an injury in his very second pre-season friendly. The Dutch coach expressed belief and showed support for the immensely talented young defender.
Manchester United’s new arrival from Lille, Yoro got his metatarsal fractured in a friendly game against fellow English giants Arsenal in Los Angeles. He played his first game against Scottish Premier division side Rangers in another friendly, after being signed for a massive 62 million Euros + 8 million Euros add-ons last month.
Yoro was expected to solve Manchester United’s defensive vows, but he suffered an early blow which will keep him out of action for about three months. The 18-year-old played beautiful football in the 44 games he appeared for Lille last season. His superior abilities caught the eye of the Manchester United think tank, who went for a hefty bid for the centre-back.
The French stopper would have been a perfect solution to the baffling Manchester United defense, but the unfortunate event against Arsenal has hindered Hag’s plans. Head coach Erik ten Hag has shown full support for the teenager, he said that “Fire is burning” within Leny Yoro to recover fast.
It has also been learned that Yoro has undergone a successful surgery and the Red Devils can expect him to join by October. Manchester United do have quality defenders like Lisandro Martinez & Harry Maguire to guard their backline. Strong names like these along with Victor Lindelof will surely make the Red Devils worry less about the defense despite the early setback.
